Proposal for Advanced Networking Infrastructure Projects for Computing and Collaboration with Andy Elble (ITS), Xiaojun Cao (NSSA). (CRC-RFP999-RIT submitted 6/07; awarded 10/07; white paper).

For development of an advanced network infrastructure for computing and collaboration based on 10 GigE technologies. Targeted focus areas are uncompressed HD video over IP, high speed connectivity between distributed research data storage sites and computational nodes, and low-latency, high throughput interconnects for HPC clusters. Grant value $78,000 cash plus equipment worth $393,220.

Building and Deploying a Sunâ’based Access Grid node (proposal submitted 12/05; awarded 4/06).

For Access Grid deployment across three buildings of the Imaging Science Center for the purpose of formally connections, informal connections, and research and development of this and related technologies and for studying the social context of the use of collaboration tools, including user interface design, human-computer interaction, and ergonomics.
